Aug 07, 2014 What truly destroyed it though was the modernization. Maybe it's just because I'm used to the older movies having song lyrics containing 'LOL,' but if they could have stuck to the original style of Barbie fantasy movies, it could have been great! The songs were too 'pop-y' which completely distracted from the fantasy atmosphere. In this Barbie game, Barbie joins the world of international espionage. After a thief steals clothes from Barbie's fashion designer friend, it is up to you and Barbie to catch the criminal and return the designs before the big fashion show. Like any good spy Barbie is equipped with a number of handy gadgets. Each item is essential for finding clues and advancing in the game and each has their own Barbie flair including, knock-out foundation, robotic spy puppies, and Pinkvision goggles. This game has all the perks of being a spy without all of the violence. However, this game has one major flaw. The game is extremely linear in style. While there are some mini-missions that take you to Paris and Tokyo, the majority of the game play is straight to the point, one mission after another with little detour from the main story line. This makes the potential for replay little to none. Furthermore, the graphics leave much to be desired. The numerous cinematic scenes are just ok and can be quite lengthy. The character proportions are comical even for Barbie, and many of the people look deformed and creepy. Beyond these flaws the game is decent. It is nice to see Barbie step away from her girly girl side a bit and show some adventure and intrigue. Of course, she still has her impeccable sense of style.
